A few years ago, before we were married,I spotted a Lenox cake topper and fell in love with the bride's dress. So, I purchased in preparation of our wedding. In due course, my husband and I were married, and while a cake topper resembling this cake topper did not adorn our wedding cake as first planned, it did have a place of honour on the bride and groom family photo books table. So, it held a place in our hearts. A few years later we had a contractor in to do some work in our sunroom, and he installed a sky-lite improperly, and a huge thunderstorm flooded our room courtesy of his mistake with the sky-light. To add to our misery, one of my great-ever so great grandparent's book, a bit over 200 years old was water logged and ruined. And to make matters worse, our cat was in the sunroom when the great deluge from above hit, and he, being a 22 pound water phobic cat, jumped and landed on the shelf that held our cake topper, and this sent the topper crashing to the ground, with awful results. The bride lost her head and the porcelan bride and groom were ruined. I came home and found water cascading in torrents from the skylight, and then saw the other damage. I was in tears. When I had a chance to feel a bit better I checked on Amazon and found the same Lenox Bride and Groom and purchased it, so now it sits in our bedroom on a shelf, out of harm's way. It was worth it to find a new one, and even though it was not the original one, it will always be special to me.
